I serve as a second-year pastoral resident at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, where I am teaching and preaching regularly, engaging in pastoral care, and learning other pastoral skills.
I was recently ordained, which one was of the most meaningful events of my life. I also spent significant time exploring and writing about my personal theology, which has had me pondering theology in many ways lately. Particularly, I've been thinking about my theology of God and about the Church and communion.
My wife, Hannah, and I adopted a dog this year. Isla is a black standard poodle that was born right around the new year. So far, she lives up to the reputation of poodles being intelligent and she's a fetching machine, which entertains me endlessly. She's also quite sweet and cuddly, which makes us all happy.
Cooking and fitness are my primary hobbies. Hannah recently bought me a cookbook from Fat Rice in Chicago, a restaurant serving Macau cuisine that blends Chinese and Portuguese influences. I'm planning to cook through that entire book as a way of learning new flavors and techniques. I workout most mornings, which maintains my physical and psychological health.
